Why Europeans should be “Greeks” now? Why solidarity is needed?
I. The rates of interest of the loan that Troika lends Greece are much more than those on which the State creditors borrow.
The financial crisis in Greece has become an opportunity for the inadmissible enrichment of fellow States, and that results in the total contradiction of communal solidarity.
II. The solutions that are given are NOT viable for the European financial structure. The loans, at such a destructive rate of interest, create a higher debt. In 2009, when Greece came under the “mechanism of financial support”, its debt amounted about to 119% of GDP.
After two years of adopting all these measures, its debt amounted about to 190% of GDP. And the more the usurious lending continues, the more debt, poverty and social explosions increase. And, of course, the failure of the smooth functioning of the Eurozone.
III.Every notion of the “social Europe” is destroyed.
The measures, which were dictated by the European decisions, impose an indefinite, unbearable austerity:
The reduction of expenditure on the Welfare State (health and education), and on salaries and pensions.
The sale of national property.
The concession of all revenue coming from the privatization, energy programs, and so on of companies.
Harsh tax charges.
Besides all the above, there will be changes in the labor regime (reductions and abolitions according to the circumstances of working people’s rights).
A country is given over to the mercy of poverty, as well as to the mercy of “new investors”, who come as “new saviors”.
IV. The European Governments deny the Greek people the right to decide on the resolutions mentioned above by referendums or elections.
Above all, they impose compulsory economic governance on a sovereign State. This amounts to, in other words, an economic occupation.
V. A new economic experiment is being carried out in Greece. If it meets with success, it will be also applied to other countries in Europe.
We are all Greeks now, because we are all Europeans.
